Lying Low
I am once again having a hard time with my pesky sciatic nerve. Only this time, I'm not in a great deal of pain, but my left foot is constantly numb. It is to the point that it grates on me all day, and by the time poor MJ gets home from work, I am fed up. It makes for one unhappy momma. There is tightness in my leg, especially around my knee, and pain in my glute, so I finally went to visit the doctor. He sent me to have an xray, and if those images come back normal then I will have an MRI to detect what exactly is going on with my back. I am lying low, both literally and figuratively. I hope to have some answers in the next week or so. Prayers are most appreciated. Thank you!

Who Do I Look Like?
Growing up, everyone said that my sister looked like my dad (they both have darker skin), and that I looked like my mom (fair as can be). I guess I never really looked into it. How did I not realize in 28 years, that they were wrong. I do indeed look like my dad.
It all started the week before Mother's Day, when everyone was posting pictures of themselves with their mom on Facebook. I didn't have a recent photo of just the two of us, so I quickly cropped my sister out of this one. Sorry Lyndz.

If you look closely, my mom and my sister look alike. No question. I look similar, but not like the two of them. So I found an old photo on my computer of my dad with Lexa Loo a few years ago. Look at me above and then look at my dad. here....
Do you see it?
Yep... I look like my dad. I told MJ I just noticed this, and he laughed. He said he could have told me that from the beginning. I guess I need to look in the mirror more often.

Tastes like home, Pork Tenderloins
The other day, I had a craving for a tenderloin sandwich. For those of you that are NOT from Iowa, it's basically a piece of pork, pounded thin, breaded and fried, served with mayo and pickles. Let's just say, it's not on the heart healthy list, but it ranks high on the yummy food I miss from Iowa list. Right up there with Taco Pizza, Checkerboard onion rings, Dutch Letters, and Pella Bologna. What's a girl to do when she lives so far from home?
I decided to make them myself. I found a recipe on allrecipes.com and just improvised with what I had on hand. What do you think?
They actually tasted great! Next time I will get thicker pork so I can pound them out to "fit" the bread better. I like them when they are much larger than the bun.
To my Iowa friends, the green stuff on the plate is broccoli. It's a vegetable. My husband insisted that the pickles slices don't count as a vegetable. Apparently, he thinks that "we" (meaning Midwestern folks) don't eat enough veggies. I told him that we eat plenty of veggies come summertime, when the sweet corn is ready, but he thinks we have to eat them at every meal. Kinda crazy if you as me!

An update to the update...
Here we are a day later and a day sicker. Little Miss went to school today where her teacher told me "they are dropping like flies!". Everyone is sick. Kinda makes me want to keep her home tomorrow. We will see how she is in the morning.
I almost kept her home today. She does have a little cough, but I was the one who felt horrible. Like, didn't want to move, close the blinds, everyone needs to be quiet horrible. So for a minute or two, I contemplated calling her in sick, just so I didn't have to get out of bed.
MJ has been crazy busy at work, so there was no way for me to take a "sick day". I was worried that I had a sinus infection because my head was killing me and it felt like a ton of bricks, pressing on my sinuses, but my mucus was clear and I had only been sick since Monday. Usually you drag everyone to the doctors office, wait forever, and they tell you it is just a virus. Go home, rest, drink lots of fluids, and come back if it gets any worse. I was not going to put myself through all of that so I googled it. How to relieve sinus pressure... I tried a few of the online tricks, and after a nice and long hot shower I was feeling much better. Nowhere near healthy but at least functioning.
The rest of our afternoon was fine until about 4:00 when Miss Loo woke us all up from our naps. She had an earache. By now I know, that if she is crying about her ear hurting, she has an ear infection. I called the pediatrician and they could get us in at 8:15pm. That's only fifteen minutes past her bedtime. Great! Maybe we would get home by 9:30.
Luckily, the moms at Kindergarten pickup today were talking about a new Urgent Care Center that just opened in Cherry Hill. I called and they said to come right over!
Within an hour and fifteen minutes we had filled out the new patient paperwork, saw the nurse, and the doctor, and had prescriptions for both me and Lexa Loo. I decided it couldn't hurt to have them look at me too while we were there. A HUGE Thanks to the moms in the pickup line. I owe you all coffee or something.
Hope to be back tomorrow with a Healthy Home Post. Gonna let these drugs and some much needed rest work.
