Two week update....

I have been terrible at blogging the last two weeks. I don't think I have posted anything since St. Patty's Day, which feels like forever ago.
We have been keeping busy and I will try and update what's been going on around here.

I am still doing my no sweets during Lent thing. I am finding it much easier this year, than last year.

The 40 bags in 40 days is crashing and burning. (Unless you count the kitchen and diaper trash!) I packed up three bags of stuff to go from my closet, but I am embarrassed to tell you they are still sitting in my room. Thus defeating the purpose right?!?
The girls and I went through a portion of the toys downstairs and have a pile that needs to go as well. Little Miss did a great job of letting go of some toys and I was really proud of her. I am hoping she rubs off on me! Sounds backwards, does it not?

My Spring Cleaning To Do List keeps growing. Most of my list requires a bit of work that needs to be done without kids underfoot. I am sure there is plenty I could cross off during nap time, but this mom has been sneaking naps while the kids nap. I have done a few things I will hopefully share, later this week.

Little Miss lost another tooth and is now sporting a silly smile....
Check out her before and after looks!

I did awesome in the first game of the NCAA tournament. I choose Morehead St. correctly, the first big upset of the tournament. Look where it put me!!
Unfortunately that may have been the last game I guessed correctly. I have plummeted to last place in our pool. This means I have also lost the personal bet I made with MJ. Darn it! I hate to lose.

Grandma and Grandpa J stopped by for a visit and we made a trip up the turnpike to see MJ's brother and family. It is always fun to get together with family! The girls love it.

We also took at trip down to Atlantic City to watch Little Miss's BFF perform at a cheerleading competition. They were so cute!

Happy St Patricks Day!!!

I hope you are all wearing your green today! I know we are getting ready to. I only had a plain green shirt for Little Miss, so I used some felt to make a clover pin. I think it turned out really cute.

The pin I just attached with the safety pin like so....
If you need a good recipe for your corned beef you should use mine. I posted about it last year here. I still need to go to the store and get my corned beef, cabbage, and Guiness. I hope they haven't run out! I will have a housefull of disappointed Irish people.
Since I am not Irish, but I am a proud Iowan.... I made myself this shirt....
Whoops... having a hard time reading it???  Here, that's better.

Now I just have to finish a few clips for the little one's hair and we will be all set to go!
I'm going to need the luck of the Irish to get everything done today. Wish me luck!

Slacking off

Since I posted my goal for Lent I have been slacking off. I am still sweets and soda free, but the 40 bags in 40 days is not going well. The bag of shoes I took out of my closet, is still sitting in the hallway. I guess my Sunday off is not going to happen. I need to get moving on this. I need some motivation!

My Lenten Goals 2011

Last year for Lent I gave up sweets. You can read all about it here. Then you can also listen to my whining for the next few days here and here. I was unable to talk MJ out of giving up coffee for the second year in a row, and he basically told me that just giving up soda was weak, so I have decided to give up sweets AND soda!
This will be tough for me since sugar and I are tight. I depend on it. It makes me happy.
So wish me luck in my 47 day adventure and lets hope we all make it to April. I am also starting a 40 Bags in 40 Days challenge.

You can read all about that here and here. So the plan is to clean up this house and part with the clutter. I am planning out a different area to work on each day (Sunday is my day off!). Today I started in my closet, since Simple Mom is starting her decluttering there. I didn't have a lot of time, so I really only got through the bottom of my closet. I did end up with a big bag a shoes to donate and a bag of trash, so I'd say I'm well on my way. Feel free to visit the other blogs and join me!

Happy Mardi Gras!

It's Fat Tuesday today!!! Do you know what you are giving up for Lent?
Last year I gave up sweets, which was huge for me. I'm a big sweets girl! This year I was planning on giving up soda because I have been drinking more and more of it lately. I know that it will bump up my coffee intake, but I don't really have a coffee crutch, so I'm ok with that.
Then I get an email from MJ this morning. (lately that is the best form of communication) He wants to know if I am giving up sweets because he is giving up coffee. I have informed him that this is not a good idea. The man needs his coffee. This morning he kissed me goodbye at 4am. That means he was up at 3am. When he does get home from work, usually around 6:30 or 7:00pm, he eats with us and then falls asleep while reading books to his girls. It was so sweet yesterday, peanut came to tell me he had fallen asleep. "Mom. Daddy seep. Daddy seep." I didn't understand her until she drug me over to the couch. There he was, sound asleep with the book in his hand. The poor man works like crazy right now, he could use some coffee.
Now I'm at a loss. Do I go ahead and give up soda and drink coffee anyway, or should I give up sweets again?

A Fridge Cleanout

Well after long weekend of fridge drama, I am happy to say that I have nice squeaky clean fridge that now works properly. Thanks to this man...
Evidently the water to the ice machine was running continuously and once it overflowed the ice container, it froze the bottom of the shelf to the bottom of the freezer.
By letting the whole thing defrost, we were able to fix the problem. (I use the term "we" here loosely - see above picture) Apparently there were a few more steps involved, but this is what I remember!
I spent most of the time washing and sanitizing every square inch of the fridge. I knew it needed a bath, but I had no idea how gross a fridge could get.

A little push

** Just a quick note to let you know we are feeling better at the Jordan House. Slowly everyone has recovered from the flu of 2011. I think we are all getting the flu shot next year. Thanks for your prayers. **

Sometimes you just need a little push to conquer the big clean outs around the house. Today I was given a little push to start a total clean out/disinfecting of the fridge. Do you see that freezer door, the one with the towel under it?

That's the one that won't open! Yep, can't get it to budge. MJ thinks somehow it's frozen shut. So thank goodness for the beer fridge which now stores my fridge food, and let's hope this freezer opens up before everything in the freezer spoils.

I guess that's a good enough reason to deep clean the fridge.

12 days and counting

That's right... we have had someone sick here for almost 2 weeks. Not just a little cold... more like non functioning, not going to school sick. I thought we were done with this!
When I got home on Sunday, I felt fine. I finished my Zpack that night and was ready to get this house sanitized. My plan is to work on one or two rooms a day. I woke up on Monday morning feeling OK. I got the little girls room cleaned, floors moped and everything, and I also cleaned the laundry room. But by Monday night my nose started to run and I started sneezing again. When I woke up on Tuesday it hit me like a ton of bricks. It really feels like I have my sinus infection back. Can this happen? MJ is ready to send me back to the doctor. How can I need another Zpack? Don't you think the last one would have killed everything?
Then to top it off, Little Miss woke up this morning. Her head hurts and she feels wobbly when she walks. Can a six year old make this stuff up? I think not. When I reminded her that she would miss her Dr Seuss cupcakes today we had lots of tears. She just couldn't feel better she said, and was so sad that she was going to miss it. Now momma feels bad. Looks like we are making Dr Seuss cupcakes today.
